Watch the temperature

In winter do you have a line to catch all species or would you have separate carp and silver fish lines with different baits?

This depends on how the venue is fishing. You'll need to catch everything you can in harder matches, so this involves fishing pinkies for small fish. Carp can turn up even here, even on bloodworm and joker, so use sensible balanced tackle such as a number five or six elastic and 0.10mm line.

Keep an eye on the temperature, as a small rise of 3-4 degrees can drastically improve weights and the volume of feeding fish. Weights in the region of 5lb to 10lb one week might be up to 50lb the next.

You'll catch on the bait that everyone feeds. At Lakeview fishery this is maggot only so you catch carp on maggot, but on pellet orientated venues maggot might only produce roach.
