When asked a question in March 2006 issue of Angling Times Advanced, Bob replied:

A friend of mine firmly believes match catches are affected by the moon. Do you agree?

"Yes there is a definite link between the phases of the moon and the quality of fishing.

The phases of the moon affect the height of the tide, so this will obviously influence tidal venues. Low tides don't change the height of a river a great deal, but a river runs hard during a high tide, so it backs up, and the level rises.

I prefer to pay attention to the temperature and air pressure as this tends to give a good indication of how well the fish will feed. A sudden drop in temperature or change in air pressure will leave them unsettled, so I'll adapt my approach by feeding less and scaling down."
